ART WIZARDS AT BRYANT:

Spring is here. Daffodils and tulips are above ground.  Trees are blooming.  It’s the season of new growth.  And Art Wizards will spring into the new Spring series of online classes starting May 8th.  Kids and adults find much inspiration to create art during this transition from winter to spring.  So we’ll include lots of spring projects…Spring sports, Spring flowers, Spring movies and much more.

Part of the secret of teaching kids to draw is to give them material that they’re excited about.  If they are going to draw a person, they’d rather draw Harry Potter than the Mona Lisa.  They would learn as much about seeing basic shapes, subtle differences and shading when drawing a still life as they would from drawing a character from Toy Story 3.  But they’d much rather draw a movie character than an orange.  We give them material they’re interested in and excited about.  Then we give them the information they need to succeed, but not so much that we stifle their imagination.

Students will capture all these projects with chalk and oil pastel, colored pencils, and markers.  Check out the galleries at artwizards.org to see some examples.  If you’d like more info about the class, Email Ilene Adler, Ph.D. at [email protected].  Or give us a call at (206) 525-6075.

My philosophy is that ANY person of any age can learn to draw beautifully, regardless of prior experience or ability, and that learning the skills of drawing will have beneficial influences in a great many areas of life and learning.

” There is a strong correlation between art education and increased cognitive skills, problem solving, fine motor skills, listening, focus and tolerance.”*
